I’m not big on sci-fi, and you might’ve guessed. I’ve always found it rather silly, how they try their best to research distant planets, how space travel works, the exact working of gravity, and sometimes the results of falling into a black hole. I can’t actually refute or critique that last one, because it never happened to me. Not personally. Though I’ve seen what they THINK will happen, and I don’t care for it myself. Too much crying and time travel.

The worst thing is when people just think you can have glass windows, like that of a car, in space vehicles. Uh…why do you think they built the rest of the ship out of incredibly expensive and specialised materials, if they were just going to put in a nice viewing window? At least put in some tinting. What, commercial glass tinting isn’t available in the future? Supposedly it’s the way of the future, at least if you look at all the skyscrapers in the city. Looks like they’re trying to coat the glass in so much tinting, there won’t be any regular glass left. No idea why they’re suddenly doing it, but I can tell you the tangible benefits in space, namely that of light filtration. Even on our external cameras, we needed specialised light filters so that we didn’t blind ourselves. So the commercial tinting of the future is probably going to need to be extra-strength if people want to be flying around with gigantic windscreens like they have in the films. I get that it’d be nice to have windows- I did miss them a little bit while I was in space- but really, just do a bit of research on what would be required. Even I’m looking into Melbourne’s residential window tinting services; my eyes have never been the same since I got back, and sometimes the sun is too much. So think about what it’d be like a few thousand miles closer…
