Going fishing with my mates is my favourite thing to do. There’s no doubt about it. Spending time on the open water with my absolute best friends just fills me with joy. It’s like there’s nothing else in the world when we’re all out there together. We just spend time together drinking beers, attempting to catch fish and laughing at the friend who catches the least. It truly is one of the best things in life.

Back when we realised our love of fishing was more than just a phase, we all decided to pitch in money so that we could all own our own boat. As such, we all part own a boat and we all spend our weekends on it. Obviously owning a boat comes with responsibilities, like when we first bought it we had to do a very important boat catch installation to make sure we could store our boat properly. We split these costs between all of us.

It’s kind of like the twelve of us are dads to his boat. This boat is our child – we even named her Summer seeing as we love the season so much. Summer is peak fishing season, you see. We love the fishing season. It’s the best way to relax and spend time with the people you care about most.

Before next summer, which is in about three months, we plan to upgrade our boat a bit. Usually, we hold our rods in one hand and our beers in the other, but now we’re thinking of adding stainless steel snapper racks. In the Melbourne area, fishers are allowed to drink and drive the boat, as long as you’re not over the legal limit. Installing snapper racks means we’ll be able to relax and let our rods work for us, which is just awesome. Only one person needs to drive the boat whilst the rest of us get drunk and talk smack.
